My rabbit, Midnight

Friday, 2nd of September, time is 2:30 I have to wait another hourand a half before picking up my rabbit, Midnight. My rabbit's name is Midnight because of it's colour, i came up with the name the day before I got it. Midnight is dark and so is my rabbit. Black on the outside, and white underneath.

Finally, I've got the rabbit, time to put newspaper on the bottom of the milk crate before it defacates on the table, in it goes. Thought that our rabbit couldn't escape huh? well......Pop it got out, luckily it squeezed back inside the crate. All locked inside the crate with paint bottles. Time for dinner, have to leave Midnight at home, worried it'll escape and get eaten by next door neighbor's dogs.

Home at last, is Midnight still in the crate? Yes it is, got a cat cage for it from Grandma's house, Newspaper at the bottom, Cut up some lettuce leaves and carrots put it inside the cage and a bowl of water. We watch it jump around the cage for a little bit. Nighty time.

I am up early the next day and I check on Midnight still there, jumpping around it's little cage. I sit there and watch it clean itself with its tounge and paws, then I go inside.

  1. Chloe has a rabbit,
    she named it Midnight,
    this I have to admit,
without zooming the pic',not at sight.
In Hamburg I sit and wonder,
Isn't this cage a bit too small,
for a big dark guy, colour like skies ready to thunder,
Maybe someone will listen to my desperate call,
to get Midnight a bigger cage,
Midnight will be getting bigger, not a minute small,
I call it a cage and Chloe a crate,
Folks you all know what I mean,
colour it pink,to hide the prison's image,
this is not a joke,it's my dream.
    Do not let Midnight out,
for I had heard of the neighbour's dogs,
Should they appear, give them the loudest shout,
should they not listen,Mummy still have her cooking pots,
please take this as a joke,
for Midnight, know not what is danger,
like some people mistaking Pepsi for a Coke,
to Midnight everyone are friends, not a stranger.
    This should be a comment,
    but ended up a poem,
    give Midnight a bigger settlement,
a bigger playground and lots of freedom,
Midnight will thank us for this,
    with the usual rabbit's kiss???????????#######????????########???????????
    ENDE.(the end in german)

Maybe someone will listen to my desperate call,

  2. Hi Chloe,

Thank you for inviting me join your blog. I am sure that I will have a fun time reading your stories and adventures in the future.

I am glad that you have a rabbit as a pet. It sure looks pretty from the photo. Now you have a great responsibility to take good care of it, giving it all the love and care to keep it clean, healthy and out of harm's way. I am sure you will do a good job. By the way, do you know that there is an interesting story about rabbits in the history of Australia? Rabbits are not native to Australia but were brought in from England by the early settlers. In 1859, some 24 rabbits were freed in the wild in Victoria and in a matter of years, they multiplied in huge numbers and reached all over the country. They became a pest, eating all the grass needed by the sheep and cattle. So, the people tried ways and means to reduce the population. They hunted, built electric fences and introduced a virus to kill the rabbits. But the rabbits were very clever. Soon they became too strong even for the virus. So even today, they are still a problem. You can read more in your history books or ask your teachers.

Well so much for the time being and looking forward to reading your stories. Say hello to your parents, Brandon and Allysa for me. Bye.

    Dr CHOW.

  3. Hi Chloe,
Your grandma here in KL told me that you wanted to know whether Midnight is a boy or girl rabbit. So I asked around and this is what I came up with.
The sexual organs are located in the lower abdomen at the base of its tail. First, lift the rabbit gently by the scruff (that is the back of the neck) while supporting its back legs. Using your thumb and index finger gently press on the genital opening. If something like a small rod comes out, then Midnight is a boy rabbit. If not, then it is a girl. Hope this information is useful or you can always take Midnight back to the store and ask the assistant to help you.
By the way, how is Midnight? She must have grown by leaps and bounds. Rabbits do grow very fast you know.
Bye now and all the best to everyone in Darwin.

    Dr Chow.

  4. How's Midnight progressing?I'm sure he/she/it is not a "bambino" anymore and on the way to be a Black Knight.
    Ciao!
